Why must knowledge be so expensive? That was the question that kicked Hand Me Down Raise Me Up (HMDRMU) into action, an inkling of an idea that was conceived after an awkward encounter at a bookshop, where we discovered that the mere $20 bills in our wallets could not cover the cost of a Math 11 textbook. HMDRMU strives to make learning resources accessible to every person hungry for knowledge in our community. We also hope to promote sustainability by offering 2nd-hand items to those in need. As the face of Gen-Z, we are only all too aware of the climate crisis. Even though we are starting small, we hope our actions will influence those around us to reuse, reduce, and recycle, starting a chain of reactions that will set off an actual change.
